Asus is shipping this unit with Windows 7, but unfortunately, they have NOT fully developed the drivers. That’s bad.
The graphics drivers on the other Asus EEE PC’s allow you to use a secondary monitor in extended desktop mode. With the 1005PE, you cannot do this.
Even if you want to just plug in a desktop monitor, the MAXIMUM resolution is 1024 by 768. Not much help on a monitor that goes 1600 by 900.
Just another Windows debacle. Too bad Asus got sucked into it.

I bought one of these computers last year and took it to Thailand where I took tons of pics and downloaded them to this computer. Before I got a chance to backup the pics to another device, the power system failed. The computer was still under warranty but I was very concerned that ASUS would wipe out the hard drive when serviced, even though fixing the power problem had nothing to do with the hard drive. I directed them NOT to do this vebally and in writing and got their assurance it would not be reloaded. Sure enough I got the computer back with no files. The company has lied to me and provided NO support to help me or do anything for me. Therefore, I tell everyone I can – DO NOT BUY A COMPUTER FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS OR THEIR SERVICE.

Tried upgrading the ram with the crucial upgrade as suggested on here. same blank screens of death when restarted, skype is laggy as ever and its generally just slow. Considering sending it back for warranty claim. Plugged battery in today and the screen went haywire and I had to restart it. shouldnt be having problems like this with a “new” computer… Replaced RAM, ALL GOOD!!! Lovely lil netbook couldnt be happier.
