I will tell you this now, i worked at circuit city for two years as the gaming supervisor and have personally owned this cooling fan, and i will tell you the same thing i tell all of my (now former) customers, it will cause more problems than it is worth. Since it is powered by the 360’s power cord and not an external supply it takes power away from the system itself preventing your system from functioning the way it was designed to which leads to the infamous “red ring of death” do yourself a favor if you really need a fan to cool your system, buy a USB powered one not one that takes power from the systems power supply, there is one made by Pelican that can plug into either the front or rear USB ports that works just as well and is much quieter for the same price (or less if you shop around)

these units that plug into the power supply void the xbox warranty and i heard some older ones fry the xbox

[...]

just beware, the xbox its self doesnt really need much air flow, if you keeo it in an open area its good, i had a vertical holder with fans in the bottom, thats the best way to go but a little airflow in the area of the xbox works. i leave my xbox on for days at a time and no problem… so watch out for those inter coolers

I just found out that the batteries Niko doesn’t work with the controllers and make the controllers to fail the syncronization with the 360. This is the reason for this, the intercooler created more RROD problems than the system itself and because of that the Niko Stuff won’t work well because Microsoft just started to get this off the market. It’s blocking the natural exit of air of the system, they should’ve placed that somewhere else. According to some game magazines the failure rate of the 360 is 33% but this intercooler makes the thing worst. Beware. don’t but this unless it’s placed elsewere. It just sucks!

Don’t buy… it causes more problems with your X-box. Causing the system to have three red rings out of the blue. Not a good product.

Ever since Microsoft approved the shoddily-made Xbox 360, which is infamously prone to overheating, it opened the door wide open for third party peripheral makers to release all manner of “system cooling” peripherals that do absolutely nothing at all. Do not be fooled though, these devices will not make your system any less prone to failure or “red rings of death.”

The only thing that these “external cooling units” do is wear out the system’s internal fans faster, and there is no proof anywhere that these external cooling units make the Xbox 360 less prone to overheating / RRODing. Save your money and do not buy these ridiculous, unnecessary devices. They are nothing but a lame attempt by peripheral companies to cash in on consumer paranoia, and they will not protect your system from failure any better than the internal fans that it ships with.
