Shweeb Pedaling Monorail

I’m not certain how this pedal-powered monorail system got to be called the Shweeb, but I don’t really care. And you got to admit, it is a very cool invention for something that rhymes with “dweeb”.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to travel in a transparent monorail car that moves not by machine, but by the user’s command? So go ahead and make those phone calls and text messages while you are behind the wheel. All you have to worry about is the car in front of you, and you can stop anytime. By the way, the Shweeb “car” moves faster than an ordinary bike.

Just to let you know, there is no plans to implement the Shweeb as a new system of mass transit. I’m sure a lot of you are going “Awww” right now, and that is completely understandable, because it sure looks like a lot of fun.

Still, single riders on one rail? That would never work in big cities. Can you imagine the traffic if someone died in mid-pedaling? Better to use moving sidewalks and plastic air tubes like on cartoons such as The Jetsons and Futurama.

However, if you want to ride the Shweeb, all you need to do is go to the Agroventures Adventure Park in Rotorua, New Zealand. It will cost about $30 to go on this three-lap ride, though.

Designed by 46 year old Nic Case, this RC vehicle is currently the world’s fastest remote control car, capable of achieving speeds of up to 161 miles per hour. The RC car has an 11 horsepower engine and uses a 12 cell battery pack as a fuel supply. Nic is already drawing up plans to improve the top speed to break the 200 mile per hour speed barrier.

So your little one’s birthday is coming up but you are at a loss for ideas on what to get him/her? Well, if the kid is still young enough to settle happily for a plush toy, how about these Cuddly Pandas?

These Cuddly Pandas are just too cute for words. We’ve only just managed to photograph them – it was an absolute nightmare distracting our designer so we could steal them back and move them to the studio. And who can blame her? Those big soppy eyes, cute furry panda faces and fur coats that are softer than soft (we’re talking about the toy, not the designer) make them almost impossible to put down. Well, if you’re lucky enough to bring them home you won’t have to. You could quite easily fall asleep on them, face squashed against their plush ears. Patch The Panda and Little Patch are sold separately, and, while it would be a shame to split them up, we’re sure you’ll take good care of them.

Patch the Panda is going for £29.99, while Little Patch the Panda has a smaller price tag of £14.99. At least you don’t have to pick up after their poop.

Although a baby crying is just one of those normal parts of having a baby, sometimes it’d be nice to know why exactly they are crying. Typically it’s pretty easy to figure out, give them a bottle or change their diaper and you’re good. However, sometimes the crying just keeps going, so at those points it would be nice to have a translator. Oddly, Think Geek is there to rescue you with this Why Cry Baby Analyzer.

Just whip this out and it’ll take the gadget about 20 seconds to figure out what’s wrong with your little one. It will then show a face on the screen that you can link up with the five different possible issues. There is stressed, sleepy, annoyed, bored and finally hungry. It’d be nice if it translated things a bit more specifically, but at least it’s something. It also displays the room’s temperature and humidity. To keep it powered, it requires 4 AA batteries. You can purchase it for $99.99.

This next product is for those who had those Stephen J. Channel TV-action dreams in the early eighties. I’m talking about The A-Team, The Greatest American Hero, even 21 Jump Street. The Silverlit Heli-Mission SWAT truck is a fully functioning RC car with a bonus inside.

Not only is this SWAT truck feature bells and whistles of sirens, but the roof opens up to reveal a helicopter inside. There is a launch platform that rises, and the chopper takes to the air!

One can only assume that the helicopter is as remote controlled as the truck itself. However, if you notice the YouTube clip after the jump, there doesn’t appear to be any footage of the helicopter landing back in the SWAT truck. You should definitely watch the clip anyway, for the music alone. You got to love those 80s action flick music.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind having this, back when I was in grade school. Have you ever noticed all the cool toys that they have out now that you are an adult? Ah, you’re only young once, and when you’re there, you better appreciate all the toys you have then, because they just get cooler when you grow up.

According to my source, the truck/helicopter combo will cost about $100, and should be available in the Fall.

It can safely be said that virtually every kid you know these days have grown up watching at least one of the six Star Wars movies, and chances are pretty good they’ve seen them all many times. Well, not everyone is going to grow up to be part of the Jedi, as these younglings aren’t too young to figure out that the Dark Side of the Force seems to hold a whole lot of promise and power. Well, here’s the TIE Fighter playhouse that ought to give your little ones plenty of fun imagining that they’re Darth Vader, shooting down Red One in the Death Star trench run. Sounds like £44.99 well spent for the upcoming summer.

New series of Star Wars themed Flash Drives

For those that have grown tired of the Star Wars accessories they already own or that have been available for a while, now there are some new ones coming out. You can pick up one of these new USB drives that make each character look a bit like a bobble head doll. Which also gives Darth Vader a cuddly feel, as opposed to making him look dark and brooding. If you don’t mind your Star Wars characters a little more cutesy, then these would be great flash drives.

They are each 2GB drives, which is kind of small, but for once they aren’t too badly priced. Besides Yoda and Darth Vader, there is also a Boba Fett and Stormtrooper within the same series of drives. They aren’t available just yet though, they’ll be coming out in October of this year. You can pre-order them now though. You can pre-order it for $24.99 from Entertainment Earth.

DS Lite Transformers Kit

With Transformers 2 finally released here in the US, you might want a little something to show your love of the movie. Well this DS kit comes in true Transformers style, but it tragically won’t actually make your DS into a cool little robot. However, maybe a little mad science mixed in and surely you can make it do at least a couple of tricks. Alright, probably not, but at least you get a cool DS case out of the deal.

The kit includes a very large stylus, it’s a full sized iconic stylus, as they like to phrase it. You can to make the choice between Bumblebee or Megatron. In this case, I’d have to say that Megatron is looking a bit cooler than Bumblebee. Although the Megatron stylus looks like it might be a little more difficult to maneuver while you’re gaming. You can purchase the pair of them for $20 or you can purchase them individually for $13 a piece.

I couldn’t really tell you why someone decided to create a controller shaped like a dog bone. You would hope that they can tell how ridiculous it looks, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t. At least one thing’s for sure, it’ll stand out in your mind. Even if it only stands out due to a rather unfortunate shape. Despite being quite ugly, this controller does have some serious perks to it that might have people willing to overlook its appearance.

This very doggish controller will actually charge up your iPhone while you play. You can to connect it to the 30-pin connection, which as of now would require you to prop up the phone in order to see the screen. They are working on a stand though to make it easier to view it, so this is still something that is in the works. You could also play via a Bluetooth connection, but if you go that route it won’t be able to actually charge your iPhone. Right now they are merely taking suggestions on a price, so you can go to their website and give your input. They’re hoping to see this released in September.
