or those of you that can’t just sit back and enjoy the music on your iPod, there is this DJ Mixer. Of course you’ll also have to know someone that has a second iPod in order for this to work, but I doubt that’ll be too much of an issue. It’ll also work with random MP3 players, so if you have a spare MP3 player you could always use an iPod and an MP3 player. Although for those of you with music on your iPhone, it doesn’t say specifically that it’s compatible with the iPhone.

If you’re purchasing this for an iPod though, you could always give an iPhone a whirl and see how it works with the device. It is officially compatible with the iPod Touch, iPod Nano 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations, the iPod Classic 4th and 5th generations as well as the iPod Mini. It will actually charge up those iPods while it’s hooked up to the mixer, but it won’t charge your average MP3 player for obvious reasons. It includes an AC adapter and a set of headphones that fold up. You can purchase the DJ Mixer for $120.

Pocket Speakers make music on the go simple

There is never a shortage of portable speakers and they come in just about every shape and size you could possibly imagine. A lot of them aren’t exactly designed to be stashed in your pocket though. They’re more worried about having some cute shape or creating a speaker that can dangle from a keychain. Which is perfectly fine, unless you really do want something to just carry in your pocket. If that’s the case, then you’ll probably like these new speakers from ABC Corp Japan.

Since they’re called Pocket Speakers, you can guess where they were designed to be carried. The company has taken an eco-friendly stance and are recommending the use of Sanyo’s eco-friendly Enelopp batteries. Specifically, you’ll need one AA battery to keep it charged. It comes in a variety of colors and has an amplifier that delivers an output of 0.5W x 2ch. You can purchase it for 1980 Yen, which translates into about $22.

With reading about concept designs, you never know what you’re going to get. Sometimes they’re fairly reasonable and then there are others that are just far fetched and ridiculous. Then there are those you just hope the technology is out there to make it possible, because it would make things far more simple. Which is where this design would fall into. It is a dock for your iPod, but it allows for other things to be stacked along with it, besides just ordinary speakers.

You could choose how many speakers you wanted, along with adding a couple of things you might not expect. Things like a light to give a nice glow along with your tunes, as well as an air purifier. Adding an air purifier to it would make it so that you didn’t have a separate purifier cluttering up your desk. The design was created by Sang-hoon Lee. It may never make it to an actual store, but it’d definitely be nice if it did.

Sure, we loved the iPhone with its complete touchscreen interface, so you can imagine the excitement when a holographic interface finally comes out. Yes, I am fully aware that a holographic interface sounds too good to be true, and the Trou Hologram phone isn’t, at least, not yet.

I’m sure we all love the basic concept photo behind this, with the 3-D hologram of the car sitting on the screen. Just imagine how cool it will be when you turn your mobile around and can see the car at nearly every angle.

Still, holographic projectors have been known to eat up lots of power, so that is definitely one obstacle for the small projectors on the surface of the display. I’m sure there are many other things that prevent our science-fiction visions of a holographic future from becoming reality.

So until Princess Leia can send “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi” as a text message, keep your fingers crossed on this one.

Here’s a speaker that I’m surprised I haven’t seen around before, purely because it’s a fairly logical combination. I’m not a huge fan that it only comes in the cheesy bright pink, but it’d be a great speaker for women. If you are one that enjoys having the option of hooking up your MP3 player to a speaker, this could easily be dropped into the bottom of your purse.

It has the shape of a compact and even has the added feature of having a mirror on the inside. The face plate on the very top can be changed out to show something a little more personal. Such as a family photo or a picture of a recent girls night out. The unfortunate thing about this speaker is that instead of being USB powered, it needs 3 AAA batteries. It’s not the end of the world, but it’d be nice if it was rechargeable. You can purchase the speaker for £14.99 or about $24 from BB Shopping.

Those mock up photos leaked earlier in the month turned out to be the real deal. Microsoft announced the Zune HD today. The device is meant to compete with Apple’s iPod Touch. The HD comes from the device’s support of HD Radio and 720P HD video (through the optional docking station) and will feature a 3.3? 16:9 multi-touch OLED display. This makes it the first portable media player to include HD radio, giving it a higher quality sound than standard definition radio.

The USB U-Shape i-Speaker

This small little speaker reminds me of an Acme magnet that if larger would be used to somehow attempt to catch and kill the infamous Road Runner. There really is no point to the shape of the speaker, I’m not even sure they’re attempting to get it to look like anything in particular. That does seem a bit on the odd side, but at least it still plays your music well enough and out loud.

The speaker has a built-in Lithium Ion battery that can be recharged by plugging it into your USB port. It has a dual 36mm speaker with volume control and a 2W + 2W power output. It can of course just plug into any device with a 3.5mm audio plug, which means iPods, PC, Mac, MP3 players and so on. It comes in two different colors, one red with white tips and one blue with the same white tips. You can purchase it for $19 from USB Geek.
